Hello. Lately I have been busying myself with playing EQ2 on their LTE server. Progression servers are pretty populated and popular in general these days on mmorpgs.
My favorite retro mmo of all time, Dark Age of Camelot does not really need a retro server because it is a throwback game already! A formidable game which predates even World of Warcraft.
Lately, I have been a little concerned with Broadsword’s announced plans for the game. I read with some trepidation the developer’s latest plans for reconfiguring or sprucing up some of the textures in the game environment.
There have been other cosmetic changes in addition to gameplay which I have no previous knowledge of because I have not been playing the game of late, something that I aim to rectify. Adding content is always a plus, especially when a new developer is enthusiastic about their game. Background here, for those of you unaware, this title was owned by Mythic Entertainment and EA, but recently has been taken over by Broadsword. However, it makes me nervous if they start messing around with the fabric or the aesthetics of the game world.
DAoC has that old school look and feel, because it is nearly 15 years old! That is part of its appeal to me and to others who I am sure come back to it for its superior pvp system, but also because of it offers an alternative to shiny new games which look pretty but lack substance.
At any rate, there are some good things happening this weekend with mmorpgs, especially DAoC. Traditionally, mmos reward their players on long weekends and this Labor day weekend is no exception. I may have to take up the game again. Here is the lowdown on what’s happening on DAoC:
